Statement of Faith/Our History

At Camby Community Church We Believe

  • The Bible is the infallible Word of God, inspired by the Holy Spirit, and contains every answer to man's problems.

  • We believe the Scriptures, both Old and New Testaments, to be the inspired Word of God, without error in the original writings, the complete revelation of His Will for the salvation of man, and the Divine and final authority for all Christian life and faith. II Tim. 3:16; II Peter 1:20,21

  • We believe in one God, Creator of all things, infinitely perfect and eternally existing in three persons; Father, Son and Holy Spirit. Deut. 6:4; II Cor. 13-14; Matt. 3:16

  • We believe that Jesus Christ is true God and true man, having been conceived of the Holy Spirit and born of the Virgin Mary. He died on the Cross, a sacrifice for the sins of all men, according to the Scriptures. Further, he arose bodily from the dead, ascended into heaven, where at the right hand of the Father, He is now our High Priest and Advocate. Lk 1:35; Rom. 3:24,25; Rom. 8:34; I Jn. 2:1,2

  • We believe that the ministry of the Holy Spirit is to glorify the Lord Jesus Christ, and to convict men, regenerate the believing sinner and indwell, guide, instruct, and empower the believer for Godly living and service. John 6:8-11; I Cor. 12:12-14; Rom. 8:9; John 16:13; Acts 1:8

  • We believe that man is created in the image of God, but fell into sin and is therefore lost, and only through regeneration by the Holy Spirit can he obtain salvation and spiritual life. Gen. 1:26-27; Rom. 5:12; Eph. 2:1-10

  • We believe that the shed blood of Jesus Christ and His resurrection provide the only ground for justification AND SALVATION FOR ALL WHO BELIEVE, AND ONLY SUCH AS RECEIVE Jesus Christ are born of the Holy Spirit, and thus become children of God. Heb.9:22; I Cor. 15:12-19; Rom.8:14-17

  • We believe that the Lord’s Supper and water baptism are ordinances to be observed by the church during this present age. However, they are not to be regarded as means to salvation. Matthew 28:19; Acts 2:41; I Cor. 11:23-28

  • We believe in the personal, and imminent coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, and that this “blessed hope” has a vital bearing on the personal life and service of the believer. I Thess. 4:13-18: Rev. 19:11-16: Rev. 20:1-6

  • We believe in the bodily resurrection of the dead, of the believer to everlasting blessedness and joy with the Lord and of the unbeliever to judgment and everlasting conscious punishment without him. Matthew 25:46, John 5:28-29, John 11:25-26

  • We believe that the true church is composed of all such persons who through saving faith in Jesus Christ have been regenerated by the Holy Spirit and are united together in the Body of Christ of which He is the Head. Eph. 1:22-23; I Cor. 12:12-14; Acts 14:27

History of CCC

-1917 Grandma Sanders saw Camby children either staying home or having to walk to Fairfield Friends church so God laid on her heart to start teaching in her home every Sunday at 9:30am

-Around April of 1917 they were meeting in homes, but God opened up an opportunity for them to have a room in the lumber mill in Camby.

-Around Easter of 1935 the mill was sold.

-Then they met in Ernie Freeman’s Green House from summer to winter when God provided a way for them to rent a little store building for class meetings.

-Oct. 5, 1936 God provided a place that would become our new church home and the church trustees paid $150 cash for the new church lot (which was about an acre).

-Through the grace of God on Oct. 25, 1936 the ground was staked off for the church basement and the first shovel of dirt was turned over on Oct. 27, 1936.

-God provided so that the first Sunday School service in the new Camby Community Church basement building was held Feb. 20, 1938.  (74 present and an offering of $8.36)

-God provided a sanctuary which held it’s first wedding on Oct. 20, 1957 when Bob and Jan Barney were married.

-May 31, 1992 God was worshipped at 2 services.  Early service at 8:30, SS at 9:45 and late service at 11

-January 1993 we purchased a new computer and printer (Wang DX computer system from H.H. Gregg.

-October 1995 God provided when CCC moved to proceed with a new worship center with a cap of $550,000.

-January 2019 we were able to announce that God provided once again and the church had paid off the debt from the Fellowship Hall and is currently debt free.

-God has provided numerous men to teach at CCC.  Many hired as pastors and some who would fill in when needed for periods of time.  All in all starting with J.J. Milhouse in 1917 to E.A. Freeman, James Hook, Glen Roberts, Alvin Nixon Clark, Jack Jones, Elmer Wheeler, Lewis Marsh, Fred Stevens, JNA Downey, Loren Barnhart, Ray Whitton, Dave Phillips, Berle Eads, Mims Roberts, Tom Kinser, Charles Hamilton, Charlie Paxton and now Brad Long as the 19th person to serve in this role.  God has been faithful to CCC.
